The
M.O.

The Process

Modus Operandi — a method. A way of working.

Three phases. One continuous arc. Every brand engagement I take on follows the same structure — because the structure is why it works.

01
Listen
Discovery, strategy, and the real conversation.
02
Build
Identity, website, messaging — one cohesive system.
03
Sustain
Content and systems that keep the signal strong.

Every brand is made of points.

Our Modus Operandi

Moments, ideas, truths about who you are. Most businesses have all of them. What they don't have is someone who can find them, name them, and draw the lines between them — until the picture becomes impossible to look away from.

That's what the M.O. is for. Three phases, each one building on the last. You don't start at Build because you need a logo. You start at Listen because without it, the logo means nothing. Every decision in Build follows from what was heard in Listen. Everything in Sustain exists to keep what was built in Build actually working.

Audire

Listen

Before anything is designed, built, or written — I listen.

Positioning Competitive Analysis Audience Research Market Research Naming Messaging Frameworks Voice & Tone

The first phase isn't a form. It's a real conversation — usually more than one. I ask about the business, the clients, the competitors, the frustrations, the wins that didn't get enough credit. I ask what keeps you up at night and what you'd say if you only had thirty seconds to explain what makes you different from everyone else in the room.

Most of what I learn in Listen never appears in any deliverable. That's the point. The research, the competitive landscape, the audience mapping — these aren't the output. They're the foundation. They're what keeps the output from being decoration.

I believe the real brief is almost never the stated brief. Clients come in saying they need a new logo. What they often mean is: people don't understand what we do, or we've changed but our brand hasn't, or we're losing deals to competitors who look more polished and we know that shouldn't be the reason. Listen is how I figure out which one it actually is.

The truth is already there. It's always there. This phase is how we find it.

Build.

Identity, website, messaging — designed as one thing, not three.

Logo Design Visual Identity Brand Guidelines Print Collateral Web Design Squarespace HTML / CSS Site Architecture Copywriting Content Strategy Motion Graphics Email Templates

Build is where the thinking from Listen becomes something real. Logo, visual identity, website, copy — these are developed together, as a system, so that every touchpoint is telling the same story. Not the same words. The same story. There's a difference.

Most brand projects fail at coherence. The logo goes to one designer, the website to another, the copy gets written by whoever has time. The result is a brand that contradicts itself — professional on the homepage, informal on the About page, visually mismatched everywhere else. The M.O. treats all of it as one connected body of work because that's what it is.

Deliverables vary by project scope, but the intent is always the same: leave the client with an identity that works everywhere their clients find them, not just in the format we happened to design first.

The brand should feel inevitable — like it could only have ever been this.

Sustinere

Sustain.

The best-built brand goes quiet without a system to keep it visible.

Google Ads SEO Email Marketing Social Media AI Workflows n8n Automation CRM Management Content Production Analytics & Reporting Google Business Profile

Brands don't fail at launch. They go quiet three months later, when the client gets busy and the content plan falls apart and the website that looked so good hasn't been touched since. Sustain is how that doesn't happen.

This phase looks different for every client. For some it's a content pipeline — a system for producing and publishing consistently without it becoming another full-time job. For others it's Google Ads that keep the phone ringing while the organic presence builds. For others still it's an ongoing retainer: a creative partner who stays in the room, keeps the brand sharp, and handles whatever comes up.

I use modern automation tools — AI-assisted workflows, n8n pipelines, scheduled publishing systems — to make Sustain sustainable. Not because the technology is interesting (though it is), but because the client's time is finite and the goal is visibility that doesn't require constant manual effort to maintain.

Visibility isn't vanity. For a small business, it's survival.

The practical side of the process.

What to expect

Good process isn't just conceptual. Here's what it actually looks like to work together.

It starts with a real conversation.

Not a brief document. Not a form. A call — usually 30 to 60 minutes — where I ask a lot of questions and you tell me the actual story. That conversation shapes everything that follows.

Timeline depends on scope, not urgency.

A brand identity engagement typically runs 4 to 8 weeks. A full Listen + Build + Sustain engagement is longer by design. I don't rush phases because a deadline showed up.

No layers. No lost context.

Your feedback goes directly to the person making the creative decisions. No account managers reinterpreting your vision, no context lost between meetings. The thinking stays connected from Listen through Sustain because the same mind is holding it.

What you walk away with.

Deliverables are scoped at the start, not negotiated at the end. You'll always know what's included before the project begins — and everything you need to use it without calling me every time.
